Until the advent of Touch.PLS, the only  way you communicated your machine position, speed, or PLS  status to your PLC network, was through hard-wired discrete outputs from the PLS to the PLC inputs.

As far  as the PLS program settings were concerned, they were simply not available to the PLC. Touch.PLScan  communicate to Modicon PLCs using a Modbus Plus network.

Thus, the entire PLS program can be either  uploaded or downloaded to the PLC through this connection. PLS status can also be fed to the PLC through  the same Modbus Plus connection. Hard PLS outputs are also available to activate the machine solenoids  directly.
